Amanda Holden: 'Britain's Got Talent delay is for the best'

Amanda Holden backs ITV's decision to delay the live stages of Britain's Got Talent until later in the year.

Britain's Got Talent judge Amanda Holden has backed ITV's decision to delay the live stages of the upcoming series until later in the year.

Earlier today the network confirmed that the pre-recorded auditions stages of the show will air as planned from next month, but due to the coronavirus outbreak, the week of live shows will not go ahead in May.

Speaking about the news on her Heart Breakfast show this morning, Holden said: "Well, yeah, we got the call over the weekend and I think it's for the best.

"I mean I think that Ant and Dec did an amazing job of Takeaway on Saturday but I'm not sure our show, I think our show would suffer quite badly from not having a proper audience.

"I'm hoping we can still strip it, strip means we sort of do it every single day like we used to or we might end up doing it over the weekends but it's all still in the running but I definitely think it's for the best."

Holden is currently hosting her radio show from home due to the government's social distancing measures.
