David Walliams reportedly decides to step down as a judge on Britain's Got Talent following a recent leaked audio scandal.

David Walliams has reportedly taken the decision to quit as a judge on Britain's Got Talent after 10 years on the show.

The news comes in the wake of a leaked audio scandal which captured off-air comments he made about contestants during the 2020 series - including allegedly calling a pensioner a "c*nt" three times.

The 51-year-old has been a firm fixture on the panel alongside Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden and Alesha Dixon since 2012, but The Sun says that he is now 'ready' to go.

"He hasn't taken the decision lightly, but it feels like time to move on and focus on his other projects," a source told the newspaper.

"His team have quietly been having conversations over the past few days where it has been made clear that David is readying himself to step down – and then producers will start to think about who might replace him."

A show spokesperson said: "The judging panel for Britain's Got Talent 2023 will be announced in due course.

"It's still very much up in the air at the moment on whether David is going to take part in next year's show.

"No decision, though, has been made as yet."

Filming of the auditions for the new series is due to begin in January.
