Coronation Street actor Alan Halsall, aka Tyrone Dobbs, is supposedly wanted for this year's I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!

Coronation Street star Alan Halsall is reportedly in the frame for this year's I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!

The Ant and Dec-fronted series has a long tradition of featuring current and former Corrie stars each year, with the likes of Sue Cleaver (Eileen), Simon Gregson (Steve), Beverley Callard (Liz), Andy Whyment (Kirk) and Sair Khan (Alya) appearing over the last five years alone.

Halsall, who has played lovable mechanic Tyrone Dobbs on the cobbles since 1998, has supposedly been a target for I'm A Celeb for years and now The Sun reports that this is the year that he has agreed to take part.

"Tyrone is one of Corrie's most-loved characters so Alan comes with a ready-made fan base," a source told the newspaper.

"Sometimes soap actors who are known for their iconic roles don't quite translate once in camp - Adam Woodyatt being one recent example.

"But Alan is a top lad with bags of personality so ITV are over the moon he's in talks to join their 2023 cast."

This year's series is due to begin in November on ITV.
