Lisa George returns to work as Beth Sutherland on Coronation Street after staying away from set during the latest coronavirus lockdown.

Coronation Street actress Lisa George has revealed that she has returned to work on the soap following the latest lifting of lockdown guidelines.

The 50-year-old, who has played Beth Sutherland since 2011, has been mostly absent from the show for the last year as underlying health conditions have prevented her from being on set.

Beth was last seen on the cobbles in early November but is now due to return over the summer after George revealed on Instagram that she had begun filming again on Monday.

She wrote: "First day back at work... filming done and now catching up on fan Mail and scripts.

"Apologies to all those who have sent me letters and not had a response yet... I'm working through them... thank you so much for taking the time out of your day to write , it is much appreciated.

"I shall respond as soon as I can. All the best for now."
