The brand new Doctor Who theme tune has been released ahead of the 60th anniversary specials.

The show is back on air next month for three special episodes featuring David Tennant as a new incarnation of The Doctor alongside his former companion Donna Noble (Catherine Tate).

The specials also mark the start of a brand new era for Doctor Who and herald the returns of Russell T Davies as showrunner and Murray Gold as composer.

Gold has developed a new theme tune for the new era, blending elements of the classic Who theme with tones from the revived series.

The theme was performed for the first time by the BBC National Orchestra of Wales at a special 60th anniversary concert, which is available now on BBC Sounds and will be released on iPlayer at some point soon.
