ITV chief Kevin Lygo admits that the broadcaster has yet to decide on a replacement for Piers Morgan on Good Morning Britain.

ITV chief Kevin Lygo has revealed that the broadcaster has still not decided on a permanent replacement for Piers Morgan on Good Morning Britain.

The outspoken presenter quit the breakfast show in March amid a row over Meghan Markle and since then Susanna Reid has been joined by a series of guest co-hosts.

Previous reports had suggested that ITV was looking to give the job to someone on a full-time basis by September, but speaking at the Edinburgh TV Festival, Lygo admitted that the show will continue with guest presenters for the foreseeable future.

"[Piers] is a very difficult act to follow and what we're doing at the moment is having a range of people," he said. "We have Susanna who is doing the lynchpin job of it all and we're trying out different people next to her.

"Sometimes, not everyone that comes on is [potentially] going to take over from Piers. We've had Alastair Campbell, and Richard Bacon and Richard Madeley, and we're just looking to see what the best thing is."

Morgan recently denied speculation that he had been approached about a shock GMB comeback.
