Aftersun and Normal People star Paul Mescal reveals that he was recently felt up by a fan.

Paul Mescal has revealed that he was recently felt up by a "creepy" fan as he posed for a picture with her.

The 27-year-old shot to fame two years ago on the TV series Normal People and has gone on to become a breakout star of the stage and big screen, so much so that he has earned a Best Actor nomination at this year's Oscars for his acclaimed role in Aftersun.

Mescal recently wrapped a run of the classic Tennessee Williams play A Streetcar Named Desire at the Almeida in London, and after one performance, he was accosted by a woman who asked for a photo.

"As we posed for it, she put her hand on my ass," he recalled to ES Magazine. 'I thought it was an accident."

Mescal then moved himself away from her hand, he added, "but the hand followed. I remember tensing up and feeling just, like, fury. I turned to her and said, 'What're you doing? Take your hand off my ass.'"

He continued: "The last thing I want to do is call somebody out in front of the theatre - it's uncomfortable for everyone involved - but it was really not okay. It was so gross, creepy. 97% of [fame] is really nice - then 3% is somebody, like, grabbing your ass."

A Streetcar Named Desire transfers to the Phoenix in the West End on March 20, with the entire six-week run already sold out.
