Doctor Alex receives coronavirus vaccine

Doctor Alex George admits to feeling "emotional" as he receives the coronavirus vaccine.

Doctor Alex George has shared the news that he has been given a first dose of the coronavirus vaccine.

The 30-year-old has been working as an A&E doctor in London throughout the coronavirus crisis and as a frontline health worker, he is one of the first to receive the game-changing jab.

Posting a picture after getting the vaccine, George wrote on Instagram: "I HAVE HAD THE VACCINE!! We have all been hoping for a vaccine ever since this virus appeared.

"Felt quite emotional having the jab, it has been a hard year! I am so glad there is light at the end of the tunnel.

"Huge thanks to Chris, one of the hospital pharmacists, for giving me the injection and to everyone working so hard to roll this out. It was a quick jab then back to work for me!

"Full disclosure I was given a star sticker for having the vaccine and being a good boy."

According to the latest government figures, around 1.3 million people have now received at least one dose of a coronavirus vaccine in the UK.
