Elvis biopic with Tom Hanks to resume filming

The new Elvis Presley biopic starring Tom Hanks will reportedly resume filming in Australia in the coming weeks.

The upcoming biopic of Elvis Presley starring Tom Hanks is expected to resume filming in Australia in the coming weeks.

Production on the film - from director Baz Luhrmann - was forced to shut down in March after Hanks and his wife Rita Wilson tested positive for coronavirus just as the pandemic was starting to gather pace.

According to the Daily Mail, with health and safety restrictions now starting to lift in Australia, plans are afoot to get filming back underway on the Gold Coast.

The movie will star Once Upon a Time in Hollywood's Austin Butler as the iconic entertainer, with Hanks playing the role of his controversial manager Colonel Tom Parker.

Elvis is due for release in November 2021.
