The Wanted's Tom Parker receives first dose of coronavirus vaccine

Tom Parker, who is battling a terminal brain tumour, reveals that he has received his first dose of the coronavirus vaccine.

Tom Parker has revealed that he has been given his first dose of the coronavirus vaccine.

The 32-year-old, member of on-hiatus boyband The Wanted, revealed in October that he had been diagnosed with a stage four terminal brain tumour.

Parker vowed to fight the disease and earlier this month revealed the good news that he has seen a "significant reduction" in the tumour following treatment.

The COVID-19 vaccine is currently being rolled out to the over-70s and the clinically vulnerable in the UK - and owing to his condition, Parker has become eligible for his vaccination.

Posting a thumbs-up Boomerang to his Instagram, the singer wrote: "'Off to get my first Covid jab. Get vaccinated."

According to the latest government figures, over 7.16 million people have now received at least one dose of the coronavirus vaccine - including more than 75% of everyone aged 80 or over in the country.
