Obi-Wan Kenobi cast confirmed as production starts on Star Wars spinoff

Disney+ announces the cast for Obi-Wan Kenobi and confirms that filming will begin in April.

Disney+ has announced the cast for new Star Wars spinoff series Obi-Wan Kenobi ahead of filming starting next month.

Ewan McGregor will return to play the title character in the show - set between the events of the prequel movies and the original trilogy - while Hayden Christensen is reprising his role as Darth Vader.

Joel Edgerton and Bonnie Piesse, who played Luke Skywalker's uncle and aunt in the prequels, are also on board, joining the previously-announced Indira Varma in an undisclosed role.

Other new cast members announced for the series include Moses Ingram, Kumail Nanjiani, Rupert Friend, O'Shea Jackson Jr, Sung Kang, Simone Kessell and Benny Safdie.

Due to premiere at some point in 2022, Obi-Wan Kenobi is one of 10 new Star Wars shows in development for Disney+.
