Dancing With The Stars to premiere on September 14

Dancing With The Stars is confirmed to return on ABC on September 14, suggesting a possible return date for Bruno Tonioli to Strictly Come Dancing.

The new season of Dancing With The Stars will premiere in less than a month, ABC has confirmed.

The upcoming 29th season of the celebrity ballroom contest had faced an uncertain start date due to the problems caused by coronavirus but has now been scheduled in for Monday, September 14.

Tyra Banks is replacing Tom Bergeron and Erin Andrews as the sole new host, while the trio of judges - Bruno Tonioli, Carrie Ann Inaba and Len Goodman - are all expected to return.

The participating celebrities have yet to be revealed, although the show has confirmed the professional lineup as Alan Bersten, Sharna Burgess, Brandon Armstrong, Cheryl Burke, Val Chmerkovskiy, Sasha Farber, Jenna Johnson, Keo Motsepe, Peta Murgatroyd, Pasha Pashkov, Gleb Savchenko, Emma Slater, Daniella Karagach and Britt Stewart.

The exact length of the show's run has yet to be confirmed but should it run to 11 weeks as usual then the finale will take place around November 23 and 24.

In the UK, Strictly Come Dancing will not return until October 24 and has been shortened to just nine weeks, meaning that it is due to end on December 19.

Under current coronavirus quarantine rules, Tonioli would have to complete two weeks of isolation upon his return to the UK so at the earliest could appear in person on the show on December 12, one week before the finale.
