Viral sea shanty song Wellerman charts at number three

The viral sea shanty song 'Wellerman' opens at number three in the UK chart as Olivia Rodrigo makes it three weeks on top.

'Wellerman', Nathan Evans's sea shanty song that has gone viral on TikTok, has opened at number three on the UK singles chart.

The track becomes the highest-charting debut single by a Scottish artist since Emeli Sande and 'Heaven' in 2011, according to figures from the Official Charts Company.

Olivia Rodrigo makes it three weeks on top of the chart with 'Drivers License' after another impressive week, with 86,000 chart sales including 10.3 million streams.

The Kid Laroi's 'Without You' hits a new high of two, while Meduza and Dermot Kennedy's 'Paradise' manages a new peak of five.

On the albums chart, Bring Me The Horizon hit the top spot with Post Human: Survival following its physical release, pipping Bicep and Isles to the top spot after an incredibly tight race.
