Lionel Messi reportedly opens contract talks with Paris Saint-Germain amid interest from Manchester City, Chelsea, Barcelona and Inter Miami.

Lionel Messi has reportedly opened contract talks with Paris Saint-Germain.

The Argentine forward has been linked with an exit in recent days, with Manchester City, Chelsea, Barcelona and Inter Miami monitoring his contract situation in the French capital.

French outlet L'Equipe reports that the 35-year-old does not want to leave the club without winning a major trophy and has therefore begun contract talks with the Ligue 1 leaders.

Whilst the player wants to take time to consider his options, sporting director Luis Campos would prefer to convince the forward to stay before the World Cup begins, according to the report.

The outlet also states that he feels more at home than ever at the club, has positive relations with his teammates and manager and even talks to his children in French.

After a poor season by his standards last season, where he was not nominated for the Ballon d'Or award, of which he is a record seven-time winner, Messi has found his feet in Paris, contributing to 26 goals in 18 matches in 2022-23.
