Joel Ward signs a new one-year extension with Crystal Palace, extending his stay with the club until June 2024.

Joel Ward has signed a one-year extension with Crystal Palace until the summer of 2024.

Ward's previous deal was set to expire at the end of June, but he has signed a one-year extension, ensuring that he will remain at Selhurst Park until the end of next season.

Speaking to the club's official website, Ward said: "I'm delighted to extend my contract. I'm looking forward to next season, and building on how we've finished during the last eight weeks."

Since joining the Eagles in 2021, Ward has gone on to make 335 appearances for the club, chipping in with six goals and 10 assists.

Ward, who has been utilised across the backline, featured in 30 games across all competitions during the 2022-23 campaign.

The defender also wore the captain's armband on 14 occasions last term, and his leadership was one of the key factors behind the decision to award the 33-year-old an extension.

Chairman Steve Parish said: "Joel is a senior leadership figure at the club given his extraordinary length of service and continued high levels of performance over more than a decade with the club.

"As an important and ever-reliable squad member, we are delighted that Joel will be with us for another season."

Palace have made a quick start to their preparations for the 2023-24 campaign after they recently announced the signing of Jefferson Lerma, who will sign on a free transfer on July 1 when his Bournemouth contract expires.

The Eagles are yet to decide on a new permanent manager, with Roy Hodgson expected to leave following the conclusion of his short-term deal.
