Michael Babatunde feels "very safe" in Ukraine

Michael Babatunde insists that playing his football in Ukraine is still "safe", despite the current political instability in the country.

Nigeria international Michael Babatunde has insisted that he feels "very safe" in Ukraine, regardless of the current political unrest.

The 22-year-old joined Dnipro Dnipropertrovsk last week after terminating his contract at rivals FC Volyn Lutsk.

Despite interest from elsewhere in the past, including Premier League Sunderland, Babatunde believes that he has made the right choice by staying in Ukraine.

"The club and league organisers have taken every precaution with the security of the players, officials, fans and everyone involved in Ukrainian football," he told BBC Sport.

"Life here is normal and they've also ensured that we don't travel or play where there are security concerns. I have been playing in this country for four years and I feel very safe to continue my professional career here."

Babatunde made his debut for Dnipro when they beat Shakhtar Donetsk 2-0 in Odessa on Friday.
