Blackburn Rovers sign 21-year-old Frenchman Billy Koumetio from Liverpool until the end of the 2023-24 season.

Blackburn Rovers have completed the loan signing of Liverpool defender Billy Koumetio.

The 21-year-old joined Liverpool's academy setup in November 2018 after beginning his youth career with French side Lyon.

Koumetio made his Liverpool debut in a Champions League game against FC Midtjylland in December 2020, before he made his second appearance in the EFL Cup in the 2021-22 season.

After spending time on loan at Austria Vienna last season, Koumetio spent the first half of the current campaign with Ligue 2 club USL Dunkerque.

Koumetio, who was subsequently recalled from his loan spell in France, has now completed a temporary move to Blackburn for the rest of the season.

Rovers' Director of Football Gregg Broughton told the club's website: "With Hayden Carter's injury, we wanted to ensure that we could add pace and physicality to the team, and Billy brings both of those attributes to us.

"This is his third senior loan spell, so this isn't a player who's just coming out of Under-21s football, and I think the fans will be really, really excited to see him play."

In addition to Koumetio, Jon Dahl Tomasson's side have also made a couple more deadline day signings, bringing in John Fleck and Duncan McGuire from Sheffield United and Orlando City respectively.

Blackburn, who currently sit in 18th place, will be in action on Saturday when they welcome Queens Park Rangers to Ewood Park.
