A report claims that the early finish to the Ligue 1 season could work in the favour of Liverpool and Real Madrid as they look to strike a deal for Kylian Mbappe.

Liverpool and Real Madrid have reportedly been handed a big boost in their pursuit of Paris Saint-Germain striker Kylian Mbappe thanks to Ligue 1's premature end.

French football chiefs announced earlier this week that the season will not be played out to its conclusion due to the coronavirus pandemic, which had halted play since early March.

PSG have been crowned champions for a seventh time in eight years, while Mbappe was declared the division's top scorer, despite netting the same number as Monaco's Wissam Ben Yedder.

According to the Daily Mail, the early finish to the season could work in Liverpool and Madrid's favour as it will give them more time to strike a deal with the Parisians.

Mbappe hinted last year that he is interested in seeking a new challenge elsewhere, with the Reds and Los Blancos considered the sides best placed to sign him.

However, a separate report claims that PSG are so reluctant to sell the France international that they are prepared to let him leave for free when his contract expires in 2022.
