Liverpool announce that Scottish full-back Tony Gallacher has left the club to sign for St Johnstone on a permanent deal.

Liverpool have confirmed that Tony Gallacher has left the club to sign for St Johnstone on a permanent basis.

The 22-year-old only made one senior appearance during his time at Anfield - playing the full 90 minutes in the 5-0 EFL Cup defeat to Aston Villa in the 2019-20 season.

Gallacher was otherwise restricted to games for the Reds' Under-23 side and made nine appearances for Barry Lewtas's side this season, including six Premier League 2 starts.

"Liverpool Academy full-back Tony Gallacher has today completed a permanent transfer to St Johnstone. Everyone at Liverpool FC wishes Tony the best of luck at St Johnstone and in his future career," a statement on Liverpool's website read.

Gallacher registered three goals and one assist in 49 appearances for Liverpool Under-23s in all competitions and also made the bench for the FA Cup fourth-round replay with Shrewsbury Town in February 2020.

The former Scotland Under-19 international spent two and a half full years with Falkirk before joining Liverpool in January 2018, and he also represented Toronto FC on 10 occasions during a loan spell in 2020.
