Newcastle United have reportedly opened contract talks with Alexander Isak, with the Magpies determined to keep hold of the Sweden international this summer.

Isak only managed one goal in the group stage of the Champions League, but he scored 21 times in the Premier League during a strong domestic campaign.

Since arriving at St James' Park from Real Sociedad in August 2022, the Swede has scored 35 goals and registered five assists in 67 appearances in all competitions at club level.

Arsenal and Manchester United are reportedly still interested in signing Bologna centre-forward Joshua Zirkzee during this summer's transfer window.

Both Premier League clubs are looking to bring in new strikers this summer, with Arsenal wanting an upgrade on Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah in the final third of the field.

Man United, meanwhile, need to bring in competition for Rasmus Hojlund, with Anthony Martial set to leave on a free transfer at the end of this month.

Zirkzee's future was the subject of much speculation earlier this year, with Arsenal and Man United both allegedly keen on the Dutchman during the January transfer window.

Man Utd 'demanding £40m' for unsettled attacker

Manchester United have reportedly placed a valuation of £40m on Jadon Sancho, with the Red Devils determined to sell the Englishman during this summer's transfer window.

The ex-Manchester City youngster spent the second half of last season on loan at Borussia Dortmund, scoring three goals and registering three assists in 21 appearances during his second spell at BVB.

Dortmund are believed to be keen to keep hold of the 24-year-old this summer but would rather come to an agreement over another loan deal than pay out to re-sign him permanently.

There had been claims that a departure for Man United head coach Erik ten Hag could lead to Sancho being brought back into the first team at Old Trafford next season.

Kimmich is allegedly available this summer, with Bayern open to a sale, but according to Sport, Merino is wanted by Barcelona to be in the pivot in the team next season.

The report claims that Hansi Flick's team are actively working on a deal for the 27-year-old, who is currently with the Spain squad preparing for this summer's European Championship.

The 27-year-old joined the Reds from Porto in January 2022, and he has represented the club on 98 occasions in all competitions, scoring 24 goals and registering 13 assists in the process.

There is currently speculation surrounding the Colombia international's future, with a number of clubs believed to be keen on his services.

Barcelona are believed to be one of those sides, while PSG are in the market for a Kylian Mbappe replacement and are also thought to be keen.

Arsenal 'target £65m PL striker' after Osimhen decision

Bournemouth's Dominic Solanke celebrates scoring against Manchester United on December 9, 2023
    © Reuters

Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing Bournemouth striker Dominic Solanke this summer.

After finishing runners-up in the last two seasons, Arsenal are looking to make the necessary improvements to build a squad that can end their long wait for a Premier League title.

The Gunners have identified the forward line as an area in need of strengthening despite Kai Havertz proving that he can operate in the number nine role during the latter stages of last season.

Arsenal had been linked with a move for Napoli forward Victor Osimhen, but they supposedly dropped their interest due to the player's €130m (£110.6m) release clause.

The 10 most expensive British transfers of all time

Argentina's Enzo Fernandez celebrates scoring their second goal on November 26, 2022
    © Reuters

Housing many of European football's biggest financial powerhouses - Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United to name but a few - nine-figure transfer dealings are now commonplace in the Premier League.

Whether players jump ship from one English club to another or arrive from elsewhere across the globe, with a great fee comes great expectations, which some meet and others fail to live up to.

Enzo Fernandez's move to Chelsea from Benfica in January 2023 remains the most expensive transaction in English football, while Declan Rice's move to Arsenal and Jack Grealish's switch to Manchester City are not too far behind.

Only Rice can certainly claim to have justified his +£100m price tag so far out of those three, showing that clubs do not always get what they pay for when it comes to multi-million pound players, as the uncovered gem may sometimes be better than the galactico.

Transfer rumours: Luiz to Juventus, Lo Celso to Real Betis, Hutchinson to Ipswich

Aston Villa's Douglas Luiz celebrates after the match on November 12, 2023

Juventus could reportedly sign Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz during this summer's transfer window.

Villa finished fourth in the 2023-24 Premier League table to secure a spot in next season's Champions League.

However, the club are under pressure to make a big sale this summer to ensure that they stay within the parameters of Financial Fair Play.

According to Calciomercato, Villa's sporting director Monchi met with Juventus chiefs last week to discuss a move for Luiz, with a deal potentially going through before the end of the month.

Tottenham 'slash' 28-year-old's asking price by £35m

    © Reuters

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly dropped Giovani Lo Celso's asking price by £35m in a bid to find him a new club this summer.

Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou experienced a mixed campaign in his first season in North London, seeing his side enjoy a 10-game unbeaten start before a lack of consistency ultimately cost them the Champions League.

Nevertheless, a fifth-placed finish and plenty of promise gives Postecoglou a foundation to build upon as he begins preparations for next season.

There will be considerable change in Postecoglou's third transfer window as Tottenham boss, with the club looking to clear out any unwanted players to make room for potential arrivals.

Tottenham to lose record signing for nothing as contract termination 'agreed'

Tottenham Hotspur's Tanguy Ndombele celebrates scoring their first goal on June 9, 2024
    © Reuters

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly agreed to terminate the contract of their all-time record signing, who is therefore set to depart the club on a free transfer.

Having earned his stars in Ligue 1 with Lyon, Tanguy Ndombele was the subject of a £52.7m move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the summer of 2019, becoming the Lilywhites' most expensive capture of all time.

However, under all of Mauricio Pochettino, Jose Mourinho, Nuno Espirito Santo, Antonio Conte and now Ange Postecoglou, the Frenchman has failed to hit the heights expected of him.

Ndombele has recorded 10 goals and nine assists from 91 games in a Tottenham jersey, but his performances have left a lot to be desired, and he has not played for the club since January 2022.

Liverpool are reportedly not interested in signing Newcastle United youngster Yankuba Minteh this summer.

Minteh registered four goals and six assists in 17 appearances for Danish side Odense, before he completed a £6.5m move to Newcastle in the last summer transfer window.

The 19-year-old was immediately sent on loan to Dutch giants Feyenoord, where he gained valuable game time to aid his development.

Minteh made 37 competitive during his time in the Netherlands, scoring 11 goals and providing six assists.

Liverpool 'attempted to hijack' Juventus move for 26-year-old goalkeeper

Liverpool reportedly tried and failed to hijack a move for a Juventus-bound goalkeeper amid uncertainty over two of their shot-stoppers.

Formerly on the books at Inter Milan, Michele Di Gregorio has since made a name for himself with Serie A upstarts Monza, who originally signed him on loan for the 2020-21 campaign.

Di Gregorio immediately found his feet at Monza, playing a significant role in their promotion from Serie B in the 2021-22 season with 15 clean sheets in that second-tier campaign.

Rather than return to Inter Milan, who prioritised the signing of Andre Onana, the 26-year-old joined Monza permanently for just £3.5m and has continued to excel in the top flight of Italian football.

Wolves 'hold talks' with former Chelsea striker

Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Gary O'Neil reacts on April 2, 2024
    © Reuters

Wolverhampton Wanderers are reportedly interested in bringing a former Chelsea forward back to the Premier League.

In Gary O'Neil's first season in charge, the West Midlands outfit performed better than anticipated, yet a poor end to the campaign resulted in a 14th-placed finish.

That was partly down to Wolves' lack of strength in depth in the final third, O'Neil having to resort to using academy players Nathan Fraser and Leon Chiwone on a number of occasions.

Heading into the summer transfer window, Wolves do not necessarily have to sell any players - as has been the case recently - yet Pedro Neto and Matheus Cunha have been linked with big-money moves away from Molineux.

Manchester United are reportedly prepared to shell out almost £60m to win the race for an in-demand Serie A midfielder this summer.

Atalanta BC lynchpin Teun Koopmeiners sent tongues wagging back in March, confirming his desire to leave the Italian giants amid interest from the Premier League.

Despite his admission, the Netherlands international continued to play a key role for Gian Piero Gasperini's men in 2023-24, ending the campaign with a Europa League winners' medal around his neck.

Formerly a defensive midfielder, Koopmeiners has since enjoyed a seamless transition into a number 10 role and contributed 15 goals and seven assists from 51 matches last season, including 12 strikes in Serie A.

Arsenal 'end interest' in £110m striker after swap deal claims

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta reacts on May 19, 2024
    © Reuters

Arsenal have reportedly dropped their interest in one of their chief attacking targets for the summer transfer window after baulking at his price tag.

After four successful seasons at Napoli, Victor Osimhen is expected to call time on his career with the 2022-23 Serie A champions this summer, as confirmed by club president Aurelio de Laurentiis.

The Partenopei have fought tooth and nail to keep hold of the Nigeria international and agreed a new contract with their star striker last December, but his terms only run until the summer of 2026.

With Osimhen's contract also including a release clause worth around €130m (£110.6m), De Laurentiis has resigned himself to losing the former Lille man to one of Europe's financial powerhouses ahead of 2023-24.
