Real Madrid are reportedly concerned that the UK's exit from the European Union will affect the future of Gareth Bale due to regulations over non-EU players.

Real Madrid are reportedly concerned that Brexit could have an impact on Gareth Bale's future at the club.

The Conservative party won a large majority in the recent UK elections, meaning that they are now clear to push through their Brexit plans and leave the European Union possibly as early as next month.

However, Madrid are only allowed to register three non-EU players in their squad, with those spots currently taken up by Eder Militao, Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo.

All three have only relatively recently joined the club and are expected to be a big part of Madrid's future, leaving Bale's position in doubt given that he would be ineligible to play in La Liga if he is not registered.

The Welshman's Bernabeu future has already been heavily questioned following another string of absences this season, in addition to accusations that he has prioritised playing for Wales over playing for Madrid.

Spanish outlet AS reports that there could be a way around the Brexit issue, though, with the Spanish government working on legislation which would allow UK nationals to continue legally working in the country.

Bale would also be able to apply for a long-term citizenship, having spent more than six years in Spain since signing from Tottenham Hotspur in 2013.

The winger has made only eight starts across all competitions this season, scoring two goals.
