Switzerland coach: 'Beach soccer quality very high at European Games'

Angelo Schirinzi admits that his side will always have a tough task when it comes to winning major beach soccer competitions due to their lack of funding.

Switzerland's beach soccer head coach Angelo Schirinzi has claimed that the standard at this year's European Games is higher than previously faced at the World Cup.

Four of the world's top five sides will compete in Baku this week, with the event officially getting underway on Wednesday morning at the Beach Arena.

Schirinzi wants to see his side build on their second-place finish at last year's World Cup in Italy, although he admits that it will be extremely tough.

"It is better quality than the World Cup," he told reporters. "We have better teams here. Europe is the highest level. We were in the final of the World Cup, we won the European League, we won the European Cup but we are not professional.

"We have a lot of trophies in our room but no money. It is not possible in Switzerland, we don't have enough sponsors."

Switzerland have been drawn in Group A alongside Portugal, Azerbaijan and the Ukraine.
