New England Patriots quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo has revealed that Tom Brady has welcomed him to the club despite their potential rivalry for the starting position.
The Patriots selected Garoppolo 62nd overall in the 2014 Draft, the highest pick they have used on a signal caller since Brady became the starter at the club in 2001.
It is thought that the rookie was brought in with a view to be the 36-year-old's potential successor, but Garoppolo insists that that hasn't affected his working relationship.
He told NFL Network: "Getting to know him, he's a good guy on and off the field. Very competitive, just like me. But he's willing to help me."
The Patriots finished with a 12-4 record last season, but were defeated in the AFC Championship game by the Denver Broncos.
