New Orleans quarterback Drew Brees has made NFL history by breaking Dan Marino's long-standing passing record.
Brees broke the legend's achievement of throwing 5,084 yards in a season, set in 1984, during the Saints' 45-16 victory over Atlanta Falcons on Monday night.
On breaking the record, Brees said: "Honestly, I was trying not to think about the record. I knew we were close.
"I got [rushed] by the offensive lineman and I figured at that point, 'OK, I guess we finally broke the record or they wouldn't be hoisting me up like this'.
"So many people contributed to this and I'm happy for them."
The accomplishment was made more special as the win saw New Orleans clinch the NFL South division.
