Sprinter Usain Bolt absent from Jamaican national trials

Six-time Olympic champion Usain Bolt pulls out of Jamaica's national senior trials for the World Athletics Championships.

Usain Bolt has been taken off the startlist for today's Jamaican national senior trials.

At the weekend, the 28-year-old was named alongside the likes of Yohan Blake, Asafa Powell and Nesta Carter for the event, which will determine the sprinting team that goes on to represent the country at August's World Athletics Championships in Beijing.

Bolt is guaranteed a spot in both the 100m and 200m due to the fact that he is the defending champion, but he had intended to use the meeting to improve his recent form.

However, his sudden omission has resulted in suggestions that the six-time Olympic champion has some fitness concerns, which may prevent him from racing in China.

Neither his coach nor his agent have so far responded to questions about Bolt's intentions going forward.
