Kaeo Pongprayoon ousts Mohamed Flissi

Thailand's Kaeo Pongprayoon secures his passage into the last 16 of the Olympic light flyweight tournament courtesy of a 19-11 win over Algeria's Mohamed Flissi.

Thailand's Kaeo Pongprayoon has defeated Algeria's Mohamed Flissi in the Olympic light flyweight tournament.

Flissi's right hook looked dangerous in the early sparring, but Pongprayoon had the speed advantage and pressed the Algerian to take a 6-5 lead.

The Thai then struck three times in quick succession with the over-hand right, which caught Flissi napping as he started to take control of the bout.

Pongprayoon underlined his growing dominance by slipping a right before planting one of his own on Flissi.

The judges deservedly awarded him the bout by a 19-11 scoreline.
