Eddie Hearn confirms Nathan Cleverly, Juergen Braehmer rematch

Promoter Eddie Hearn confirms that there is an agreement for Nathan Cleverly to offer Juergen Braehmer a rematch after he dethroned the WBA light-heavyweight champion.

Promoter Eddie Hearn has predicted that Nathan Cleverly will beat Juergen Braehmer "even easier" when a rematch takes place between the two early next year.

On Saturday night, Cleverly claimed the WBA 'regular' light-heavyweight title after Braehmer retired on his stool with an elbow injury after the sixth round, but with the German entitled to a rematch, the pair will meet again next year.

The two camps have disputed the venue for the second bout but regardless of where the clash takes place, Hearn has backed Cleverly to claim a more authoritative win.

Hearn told Sky Sports News: "If they want the rematch then that's not a problem. We'd love to do it in Wales but I think the rematch would be even easier for Cleverly.

"He's a two-time world champion and we've recovered from this little glitch in British boxing. People should be very proud of him. They don't know how much he wanted that tonight.

"We said in the changing rooms before the fight it was about how much you want it. Cleverly was like a man possessed in the changing room."

The winner of the rematch may be obligated to face the winner of the fight between Sergey Kovalev and Andre Ward.
