Brook was in control from the outset, landing with alarming regularity to knock down his Argentine opponent in the first round.
Saldivia beat the count and tried to rally in the second stanza, throwing a huge left hook to land his first meaningful punch of the bout.
Hometown man Brook began to mark his opponent up and finished the job with a stiff straight that sent Saldivia sprawling to the canvas.
The South American scrapper tried to get to his feet but his legs betrayed him, forcing the referee to end the contest.
An impressive victory makes Brook next in line for a shot at the IBF welterweight title, with a fight against either Devon Alexander or Randall Bailey due for the start of 2013.
