India captain Virat Kohli welcomes "landmark" day-night Test match

India captain Virat Kohli is hopeful that the introduction of day-night Test cricket will help 'change' the game.

India captain Virat Kohli has claimed that he is hopeful that the introduction of day-night Test cricket will help boost interest in the format.

The first ever pink-ball Test match will be held at the Adelaide Oval when Australia and New Zealand go head to head in the third contest of their series, which begins on Friday.

"It is a landmark Test," Kohli told reporters. "It is a big experiment. It is a big step towards changing something in Test cricket. I hope it works. I hope it can be another option as well.

"I'm glad two teams have actually agreed to play an official Test like that as an experiment. Credit to Australia and New Zealand, both, that they have decided to do this. Hopefully it will be better for the game. It will be a step which we all might remember few years down the line. Let's hope so."

Meanwhile, India will face South Africa in Nagpur this week in their third Test match.
