Ricky Tomlinson has got back into character as Bobby Grant in Brookside for Eurovision.

This year the contest is being staged in Liverpool on behalf of 2022 winners Ukraine, and the BBC is putting together a film showing some of the city's most famous figures getting ready for the event.

In newly-released pictures, the iconic character of Bobby is seen in Brookside Close putting up Ukrainian flag bunting outside his home.

Also featuring in the film is Vitalii Mykolenko, Everton's Ukrainian left-back, pictured in the stands at Goodison Park, while across the city at Anfield, Liverpool Women's Emma Koivisto and Sofie Lundgaard display the Ukrainian flag as they have a kickabout.

Meanwhile Scouser Paul Hollywood, judge on The Great British Bake Off, is seen baking a blue and yellow cake to welcome Ukrainians to the city.

The film is expected to air during the first semi-final on Tuesday, May 9.
