ITV2 spinoff show Love Island: Aftersun will reportedly return for this summer's edition of the dating show.

Love Island's weekly companion show Aftersun will return for this summer's edition, it has been reported.

The spinoff traditionally airs weekly on ITV2, with host Maya Jama joined by special guests - including dumped Islanders - to discuss the previous week's events.

For the All Stars series in January the show was ditched, however, with Jama instead interviewing the eliminated contestants outside the villa for inclusion in the regular nightly show.

According to The Sun, however, producers have now had a change of heart and will bring back the studio-based show for the next series.

"Love Island bosses tried to mix things up for All Stars as they saw it as a brand new format," a source told the newspaper.

"One of the ways they tried to make it different was ditching Aftersun and having Maya interview the islanders outside the villa immediately after they were sent packing.

"Viewers didn't love the change though and really missed Maya fronting the Sunday night spinoff, so bosses are definitely bringing it back for the regular series.

"Logistically, it makes sense to have it back too as Maya stayed in Cape Town for the whole of the All Stars run, whereas she will be flying back and forth between the Mallorca villa where the summer series films, and London where Aftersun records.

"Producers are already reaching out to agents to book guests for the first few shows of the new series when it returns in June."

The new series is due to begin on ITV2 and ITVX on Monday, June 3.
