ITV was reportedly forced to drop multiple episodes of Spitting Image last autumn following the death of The Queen.

ITV was reportedly forced into dropping a whole series of Spitting Image episodes following the death of The Queen.

Britain's longest-reigning monarch died at the age of 96 on September 8, prompting major broadcasters to rip up their schedules for rolling coverage.

According to The Mirror, ITV already had new episodes of the satirical puppet show - which has traditionally featured a puppet of The Queen heavily - in the bag before her passing.

The broadcaster apparently tried unsuccessfully to re-edit the episodes to reflect events and now doubts they will ever be able to air in the future, costing around £9m.

Confirmation of the show's complete cancellation followed in October 2022.
