The Dons are fourth in the table.

Aberdeen striker Sam Cosgrove believes there are exciting times ahead for him and his team-mates if they can keep improving.

The 22-year-old took his recent tally to nine goals in eight matches by hitting a double in a 3-0 win at Hamilton on Wednesday.

The victory was Aberdeen's sixth in seven Ladbrokes Premiership matches and it took them level on points with Rangers, with leaders Celtic three further ahead.

Cosgrove told RedTV: "It was not a perfect performance and there is still plenty of improvement for the team to make throughout the pitch.

"We have shown glimpses of what we can do, we had spells in December when we did that, and if we keep improving then it is going to be an exciting time for us.

"We are going about our business quietly and hopefully we can keep getting the results."

Aberdeen now face a Kilmarnock side who moved into second with victory over Rangers in midweek.

Cosgrove said: "It is a very close league at the moment and any team can beat anyone. We always knew it was going to be a massive game against Kilmarnock.

"Their result just emphasises that we need to go and put a very good performance in on Saturday if we are going to get a positive result."
