Adel Taarabt: 'Paris Saint-Germain wanted to sign me'

AC Milan midfielder Adel Taarabt has claimed that a failed move to Paris Saint-Germain caused him to suffer a dip in form in 2011.

Taarabt, who was with Queens Park Rangers at the time of the reported interest, believes that the link with PSG had a negative impact on his mentality at that stage of his career.

"They had met me before all the other players who have signed," the 24-year-old told reporters.

"They wanted me to sign. But I think that [director of football] Leonardo had other priorities.

"I suffered from this transfer failure, I suffered a lot. In my head, I was in Paris, a big club, I was going to play the Champions League."

Taarabt joined Milan on loan from QPR in January.
