The buildup to the summer transfer window has now begun, with rumours and speculation continuing to swirl as Arsenal eye possible reinforcements.

The Gunners spent more than many expected during the summer - most notably their club-record purchase of Nicolas Pepe - but were more reserved in January as they focused on bolstering their defensive options.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up the latest news on possible comings and goings at the Emirates Stadium.

Saturday morning's Arsenal transfer talk news roundup:

Premier League clubs in the shape of Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal are all reportedly weighing up summer moves for Schalke 04 midfielder Weston McKennie.

The 21-year-old, who has been capped on 19 occasions by the USA, joined Schalke from Dallas in 2017 and has made 91 appearances for the German club in all competitions.

The Texan was again a regular during the 2019-20 campaign, scoring three times and providing one assist in 32 appearances in all competitions but his future at Veltins-Arena is being called into question.

According to CBS Sports, McKennie is expected to leave the Bundesliga this summer, and a number of clubs from England, Spain, France and Germany are keen on a move.

The report claims that Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal are all in the hunt for the American, who still has four years left to run on his contract with David Wagner's side.

Schalke are believed to value the central midfielder in the region of £20m.

Arsenal 'weighing up move for Espanyol's Marc Roca'

Arsenal are reportedly considering making an attempt to sign Espanyol midfielder Marc Roca during this summer's transfer window.

The 23-year-old is expected to leave his Catalan club ahead of the 2020-21 campaign following their relegation to the Segunda Division.

Bayern Munich have previously been credited with an interest in the Spaniard, but according to football.london, Arsenal are also very much in the hunt for his services.

The report claims that the Gunners 'could be tempted' to move for the central midfielder this summer as head coach Mikel Arteta looks to improve his options ahead of next season.

Roca is thought to have a €40m (£35.8m) release clause in his current deal at the RCDE Stadium but should be available for less following Espanyol's shock relegation.

The former Spain Under-21 international has scored twice and provided three assists in 41 appearances for the White and Blues during the current season.
