Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger backs Joel Campbell, Calum Chambers to perform

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger hopes that Joel Campbell and Calum Chambers can shine when they play against Sheffield Wednesday in the Capital One Cup.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has given his backing to Joel Campbell and Calum Chambers to stand out in tonight's Capital One Cup fourth-round tie against Sheffield Wednesday.

The French boss is expected to hand some of his fringe players the opportunity to show their ability against Championship opposition.

Campbell will be given a rare start up front for the Gunners when they arrive at Hillsborough, while Chambers will be installed in defence.

"I like Joel Campbell very much for two reasons - one is that he has outstanding individual quality, but he is also a team player," ESPN quotes Wenger as saying. "He works very hard for the team.

"I'm convinced he will get a chance here and that he will take it. He has another opportunity against Sheffield Wednesday and I'm hopeful that he will show that he has the quality to play for Arsenal.

"When you get the chance, you have to be ready. To be ready, you have to prepare. I must say that Joel Campbell and Calum Chambers are two players who do absolutely everything right. They are prepared, the preparation they have created will give them the confidence against Sheffield Wednesday and I'm confident they will play well."

Arsenal last won the League Cup in the 1992-93 season.
