Arsenal will have the chance to equal a top-flight scoring record when they welcome Brentford to the Emirates Stadium on Saturday.

Arsenal will attempt to equal a top-flight scoring record when they play host to Brentford on Saturday evening.

The Gunners may have one eye on Tuesday's Champions League last-16 clash with Porto, but before they can turn their full focus to that second leg, they must negotiate a Premier League fixture against Brentford.

They are currently in third position and just two points adrift of leaders Liverpool after winning all seven of their top-flight matches in 2024.

In their most recent outing, Arsenal thrashed basement side Sheffield United 6-0 thanks to efforts from Martin Odegaard, Gabriel Martinelli, Kai Havertz, Declan Rice and Ben White as well as a Jayden Bogle own goal.

As a result of their scintillating run of form, the Gunners have become the first team to score 30 or more goals in their opening seven top-flight games of a calendar year.

The North London side now have the opportunity to become just the second team to register at least four goals in five consecutive top-flight fixtures.

Aston Villa are currently the only club to have achieved the impressive feat after they set the scoring record in 1931.

Mikel Arteta's troops are also looking to clinch eight successive Premier League victories for the first time since 2015.

Arsenal will be confident about claiming all three points, having already beaten Brentford on two occasions this season.

Reiss Nelson scored the decisive goal in August's EFL Cup clash, before Arsenal recorded another 1-0 win in November's Premier League meeting.

The Gunners left it late to break the deadlock in the reverse league fixture, with Havertz netting an 89th-minute winner to snatch all three points.

With those two matches taking place at the Gtech Community Stadium, Arsenal are set to face Brentford in a home game for the first time since playing out a 1-1 draw in February 2023.

Although the Gunners had to settle for a point on that occasion, they can be proud of the fact that they have avoided defeat in each of their last six home meetings with the Bees since suffering a 2-0 loss in April 1938.

Arteta is hopeful that he will have Bukayo Saka and Martinelli available for Saturday's contest despite the fact the pair failed to complete the duration of Monday's dominant win over Sheffield United.
