Former Arsenal player Paul Merson praises goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale after the Gunners' 1-0 victory over Burnley.

Former Arsenal player Paul Merson has praised the Gunners' new goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale, following Saturday's victory over Burnley.

Mikel Arteta's side travelled to Turf Moor to take on Burnley, and Martin Odegaard's first-half strike made the difference in a 1-0 away victory.

Following his £25m summer move from Sheffield United, Ramsdale made his third appearance for the London club, and the English stopper is yet to concede a goal in an Arsenal shirt.

Speaking on the goalkeeper's performance as part of the punditry panel, Merson said: "He has been absolutely outstanding. I have been one of his biggest critics. He has definitely been outstanding today."

Ramsdale, who was called up to the England squad for Euro 2020, suffered back-to-back relegations from the Premier League in the last two seasons with Bournemouth and Sheffield United, but he has so far starred for Arteta's side in a 6-0 EFL Cup thrashing of West Bromwich Albion and 1-0 victories over Norwich City and Burnley in the Premier League.

Such results have seen the Gunners collect their first points of the season, and they now sit on six from the opening five games.
