Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger concedes that his team are still struggling to come to terms with their defeat to Manchester United on December 2.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has admitted that his team are still struggling to come to terms with their home defeat to Manchester United earlier this month.

The Gunners dominated the possession and created the better chances during their Premier League clash with United on December 2, but the away side's goalkeeper David de Gea had a fine game in Arsenal's 3-1 defeat.

The London club have drawn with Southampton and West Ham United since the United clash, and Wenger has conceded that the defeat is still 'playing on the minds of his team'.

"It still plays on their minds. You need to get that out of the system. When you have so many chances as we had and you come out with nothing, it's difficult to swallow and it takes a little while," Wenger told reporters.

"I think the best way is to continue to put that behind us and focus on the quality of our game."

Arsenal, who have dropped down to seventh position in the Premier League table, will look to overcome their recent slump when they host Newcastle United on Saturday afternoon.
