Arsenal will allegedly contemplate an approach for Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi during the summer transfer window.

Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi has reportedly emerged as a potential transfer target for Arsenal.

Earlier this week, the Gunners surprised many by launching an approach for Chelsea midfielder Jorginho, one which ultimately proved to be successful.

The move came at a time when Arsenal sit clear at the top of the Premier League standings with their London rivals languishing down in 10th position.

As well as the difference in league places, the city neighbours are at contrasting stages of their development, Arsenal seemingly peaking while Chelsea are going through a chaotic transitional period.

That leaves the Blues hierarchy ready to facilitate a wide range of departures during the summer transfer window in a bid to reduce Graham Potter's squad members and boost their position with FFP.

Players are expected to become available who may not have fallen into that bracket before the Chelsea owners went on an unprecedented spending spree over the past two periods where business could be conducted.

According to The Guardian, offers will be considered for Hudson-Odoi ahead of 2023-24 and Arsenal may look to take advantage.

After an Achilles injury prematurely ended his 2021-22, the academy graduate was allowed to move to Bayer Leverkusen on loan for the current campaign.

The 22-year-old has been provided with 12 starts and five substitute outings in the Bundesliga and Champions League, only chipping in with one goal and one assist.

Although Hudson-Odoi is now part of an improving squad under Xabi Alonso, the attacker is approaching a crossroads in terms of his next career move.

Less than 18 months remain on his contract and Chelsea can significantly benefit their standing with FFP by selling a player who has come through their youth ranks.

From Arsenal's perspective, they are currently well stocked in the final third, but the acquisition of Hudson-Odoi may be perceived to be value for money when they could be targeting other areas of the pitch.

As it stands, Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli, Emile Smith Rowe, Leandro Trossard and Reiss Nelson are Mikel Arteta's options on the flanks.
