Real Madrid and Spain forward Marco Asensio is reportedly being monitored by Arsenal in this summer's transfer window.
The 25-year-old, who has been hampered with injuries in recent seasons, is not guaranteed regular first-team football under Carlo Ancelotti and is therefore considering his options.
According to todofichajes, the Gunners are ahead of Liverpool and north London rivals Tottenham Hotspur in the race for Asensio's signature.
Mikel Arteta is believed to be a huge admirer of his compatriot and is hopeful that Arsenal can enter negotiations with Real Madrid, who value the forward at around £34m.
Los Blancos have given no indications to suggest they want to part ways with Asensio this summer, though if their valuation of the player is met, then they would likely accept and put funds generated towards a new signing.
Asensio, who has two years remaining on his contract, has made 194 appearances across all competitions for Real Madrid, scoring 37 goals and providing 22 assists.
