Barcelona midfielder Sergi Roberto turns down approaches from a number of MLS clubs, according to a report.

Barcelona midfielder Sergi Roberto has reportedly turned down approaches from a number of MLS clubs.

The 30-year-old's contract at Camp Nou is due to expire at the end of June, and there has been a host of speculation surrounding his future in recent weeks.

Barcelona boss Xavi recently expressed a desire to keep hold of the Spain international, but contract talks have allegedly been paused, which has led to suggestions of interest from Arsenal and Manchester City.

According to Marca, a number of MLS clubs have also been in touch with the midfielder's representatives, but Roberto has made it clear that he is not looking for a move to North America.

The report claims that the Spaniard is determined to sign a new deal at Camp Nou but will look to join another European club if he cannot reach an agreement with the Catalan giants.

Roberto has only made 12 appearances for Xavi's side during the 2021-22 campaign, contributing two goals and one assist, having been on the sidelines since the end of October through injury.
