Mikel Arteta suggests that Joe Willock, who impressed on loan at Newcastle United last season, will remain at Arsenal for the 2021-22 campaign.

Mikel Arteta has suggested that midfielder Joe Willock will remain at Arsenal for the 2021-22 campaign.

The academy graduate emerged as one of the most impressive performers during the second half of last season as he netted in seven successive games during a loan spell at Newcastle United.

The Magpies are keen to secure the services of the playmaker on a similar deal with the 21-year-old said to be valued in the region of £20m.

However, despite speculation regarding the potential signings of James Maddison and Martin Odegaard, Arteta has insisted that he will find a place for Willock in his Gunners squad.

The Spaniard is quoted by football.london as saying: "Well for sure because he's got a contract and he's going to be here, so that's for sure.

"He will be back with us, we will have those conversations with him and plan the next years for him."

Willock has two years remaining on his contract at the Emirates Stadium.
