David Moyes reveals "big offers" for West Ham United transfer targets

West Ham United manager David Moyes confirms that the club have already made "big offers" to clubs without success in their search for a new striker.

West Ham United manager David Moyes has revealed that the club have unsuccessfully made "big enquiries and offers" to clubs in their search for a new striker.

The Hammers recently waved goodbye to Sebastien Haller, whose ill-fated stint in the English capital came to an end with a £20m move to Eredivisie giants Ajax two weeks ago.

Haller's departure leaves Michail Antonio as Moyes's only recognised striker, and the club have been linked with a host of names to bolster their attack, namely Reims frontman Boulaye Dia and Arsenal's Eddie Nketiah.

Moyes has now confirmed that approaches have been made without yielding results, telling reporters at a press conference: "We've already made big enquiries and offers for players with clubs. They've obviously not been accepted otherwise I would have someone.

"It is not as if we're not trying to do that, we have tried. I need to try and get players who I think would make a difference and I want it to be something which I think can help us.

"If I don't I might need to look short term, just to get me through to give me another player but if not then I'll use the young players or I'll have to try and find us a centre-forward from someone else in the squad.

"If Mick can regain his real form and where he has been in recent months that would be the big thing for us. He is getting closer, another 90 minutes and a goal. It is what we have really missed so we're glad to have him back."

Antonio struck the only goal of the game in West Ham's 1-0 Premier League win over Burnley on Saturday - a result which leaves ninth-placed West Ham level on points with seventh-placed Chelsea after 18 matches.
