Newcastle United reportedly join the race for Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette, with the clock ticking on the striker's time in North London.

Newcastle United have reportedly joined the race to sign Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette.

The ex-Lyon man is due to become a free agent in the summer of 2022 and is widely expected to move on given his struggles for starts this season.

Lacazette has impressed in clashes with Crystal Palace and Aston Villa, but he continues to run down his Arsenal deal amid links with Inter Milan and AC Milan.

Now, the Sunday People claims that Newcastle are also in the hunt for Lacazette's signature, with the club's new owners seeking to drastically strengthen the squad ahead of the 2022-23 season.

Mikel Arteta has ruled out the prospect of Lacazette leaving Arsenal in January, though, while a new contract for the 30-year-old is not totally off the cards either.

Lacazette has struck 68 goals and set up 29 more in 176 games for the Gunners since arriving in 2017, but he has only started one Premier League game so far this season.
