Tottenham Hotspur 'leading race for Norway starlet Sander Berge'

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly leading the race to sign 20-year-old Genk midfielder Sander Berge, who has also been linked with Arsenal, Everton and West Ham United.

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly emerged as the frontrunners to sign Genk midfielder Sander Berge in January.

The 20-year-old has established himself as a regular in the first team for both club and country, having already made 12 senior international appearances for Norway.

A number of Premier League clubs are understood to be tracking the youngster, with Arsenal, Everton and West Ham United among the interested parties.

However, TEAMtalk reports that Spurs are currently leading the race for Berge's signature, with the club having kept tabs on him since he was just 16 and still playing in his native Norway.

Any move for the central midfielder could depend on Spurs offloading one of their current players first, though, with Victor Wanyama and Mousa Dembele linked to exits during the January transfer window.

Genk are thought to value Berge at around £20m, meaning that Spurs - who failed to make a single signing during the summer - may need to raise funds by selling players first.
