Radamel Falcao nets a hat-trick as AS Monaco claim a 4-1 win away at Dijon in Ligue 1, with Kylian Mbappe an unused substitute.

AS Monaco have climbed to second in the fledgling Ligue 1 table on goal difference following a 4-1 win away at Dijon.

Kylian Mbappe returned to the matchday squad after picking up a knock but did not get off the substitutes' bench as his side made it two wins from two games.

The French champions broke the deadlock after just three minutes when Kamil Glik nodded the ball into the path of Radamel Falcao following a corner, and the Colombian stabbed home into an empty net.

In the 25th minute, Leonardo Jardim's charges doubled their lead in spectacular fashion, Jemerson's bicycle kick from six yards out leaving Dijon goalkeeper Baptiste Reynet with no chance.

Two more goals followed before the end of the first half, with Monaco adding a third 37 minutes in when Falcao received a precise pass inside the box from Adama Diakhaby and rattled a powerful shot into the top-right corner.

Dijon then gave themselves a fighting chance of getting something from the game when Romain Amalfitano's lofted cross fell to Wesley Said, who controlled the ball and slotted a first-time finish through the legs of Danijel Subasic.

However, the game was put beyond the hosts' reach when Falcao sealed his hat-trick by heading home a delivery from Thomas Lemar six minutes after the restart.
