Tiago backs Jackson Martinez to shine

Atletico Madrid midfielder Tiago backs "great player" Jackson Martinez to overcome a difficult start to his career at the Vicente Calderon.

Atletico Madrid midfielder Tiago remains confident that Jackson Martinez will show his "tremendous quality" for the Spanish outfit.

The Colombian international joined Atletico in a big-money move from Porto in the summer transfer window, but has only netted once for his new club this season.

Martinez has also been substituted at half time in two of Atletico's recent league matches, but Tiago has said that the striker will show his qualities in the coming months.

"Jackson is still learning how to play in our system because [his new role] is very different to [the one at] Porto. Nonetheless, he possesses tremendous quality and we expect him to show it. Everyone's calm because he's a great player," Tiago told reporters.

Martinez netted 92 goals in 132 games for Porto between 2012 and 2015.
