Barcelona left-back Lucas Digne says that his team deserve more respect for their impressive defensive record this season.

Barcelona left-back Lucas Digne has claimed that his team deserve more respect for their impressive defensive record this season.

The Spanish giants have only conceded four times in their last 14 matches in all competitions, and have shipped just three goals in 10 La Liga games at the start of the 2017-18 campaign.

Digne has said that it is easy to brand Barcelona 'an attacking team', but the Catalan outfit deserve more respect for their impressive defensive record under Ernesto Valverde.

"Normally, when you talk about Barca, you talk about our attacking style and maybe forget the defensive part of our game," Digne told Goal.com.

"But we work hard on that as a team, and it is great to see us letting in so few goals this season, that has helped us in getting this great string of results, and as a left-back of course I find defending extremely important.

"Defending is the most important part of the game for a left-back, but having said that, of course it is a big plus when I can also help the team in attack - and especially with a goal or an assist. It is an extra bonus and of course that really makes me happy. But I also get that feeling from keeping a clean sheet."

Digne has made four appearances for Barcelona this season.
