Barcelona 'to put five players up for sale next summer'

Arda Turan heads a list of five players Barcelona are keen to offload at the end of the season to make way for others, according to a report.

Barcelona will reportedly attempt to considerably lower their wage bill by offloading as many as five first-team squad members at the end of the season.

Around 84% of the Catalan club's expenditure is said to go on player wages, which they are keen to rectify ahead of a summer of rebuilding.

Diario Gol suggests that Arda Turan heads the list of those no longer wanted at Camp Nou, Barca having already tried to offload him earlier this year, while Thomas Vermaelen, Paco Alcacer, Andre Gomes and Aleix Vidal will also be told to seek new clubs.

The report claims that interested parties will unlikely be willing to match the players' current salaries, however, making transfers difficult.

Barca remain in the process of finalising terms of a new long-term deal for star man Lionel Messi, which will also add more weight to their wage bill.
